David Slomp is Professor and Associate Dean in the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge and Co-Editor-in-Chief of Assessing Writing. His research advances valid, fair, ethical, and justice-oriented approaches to literacy and writing assessment in digital and AI-mediated contexts. He works at the intersection of writing assessment, validity, ethics, fairness, justice, digital literacies, and the public consequences of assessment design and use. His scholarship has been cited more than 1,100 times and includes work recognized by the International Literacy Association’s 2025 Albert J. Harris Award.
